Often we can struggle at times to reach out for psychological support. It can initially feel like a daunting prospect, but seeing a psychologist can be an extremely supportive and enlightening experience, helping you to feel better and enjoy life. It is a brave decision to seek counselling, and it is completely normal to feel anxious and unsure of what to expect. It is my job to make you feel safe and supported by providing a comfortable and trusting environment, enabling us to work through the issues and achieve your goals. My approach combines professionalism, honesty, warmth and humour, without judgement. I work with adolescents and adults.
Hailing from Aotearoa, I completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and English at Otago University, New Zealand, followed by an Honours Degree in Psychology at Victoria University, New Zealand. I have lived in New Zealand, Dublin, London, Melbourne and Singapore, having returned to New Zealand permanently in late 2017. My passion for different cultures, food, people and experiences, has given me the ability to relate to people from all walks of life, diverse cultures and backgrounds.
I have been counselling for more than twelve years in a variety of settings; private, company, and schools. I have extensive experience working with both adolescents and adults, and enjoy drawing from a wide range of psychological approaches. I draw on a range of therapy approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focussed Therapy, and most recently EMDR Therapy.
I am experienced in the following areas:
- Depression and mood related issues
- Relationship issues
- Stress management
- Anger management
- Grief and loss
- Self esteem and confidence
- IVF and infertility
- Maternal mental health
I like to take a holistic approach to mental health and wellbeing, exploring lifestyle and health, as well as emotional factors. I aim to provide you with the tools to make positive changes, to tackle your issues through self discovery and reflection, and to feel more empowered. I strive to help people discover or reconnect with their passions, and support them to live life to the fullest, whilst being able to make room and cope with unpleasant emotions when they arise. After all, they are part of life.
