Raised on the shore Karl travelled the world as a diving instructor and somehow managed to find himself as a manager for a manufacturing company. Realising that his life had somehow gone from a fit, outdoor lifestyle to an office surrounded by welding equipment he took the obvious steps to rectify this mistake. Having a body that was ageing from misuse and a sedentary lifestyle he was referred to pilates and hasn’t looked back. Taking it to the extreme he immersed himself in it and actually changed his career to help others find movement and health. With a BCom from Auckland Uni, a Cert IV in pilates from Breathe and a Cert IV in Personal training in Melbourne he has a wide range of knowledge and loves a good challenge and will help you push past boundaries that you thought were there. In the meantime he will distract you with his terrible dad jokes and casual banter so that it all seems little more enjoyable and a bit of an escape.

I had a less than healthy 20’s lost in depression and anxiety using recreational and prescription drugs to escape, leaving me feeling like a zombie, powerless and disconnected from myself. Broken by a lack of self love. Yoga finds you when you are ready for it. I didn’t know what Yoga was but something called me to it. I was the only student in my first class wearing trackpants and a baggy T-shirt, the teacher, sensing what I needed took me through a fast and vigorous flow. Shift the energy. Create heat. Laying in savasana at the end of class I felt a joyful release and relief wash over me, I felt like I had come home, that I was now safe. From that point on I couldn’t get enough. I was beginning to transform and I wanted more. Yoga took me on a journey towards self realization, igniting an alchemy of my soul through the heat of my physical practice. my body grew stronger taking me into shapes I never imagined possible shifting my perspective of myself. The insecure, destructive lost me fell away uncovering the truth of who I was and how to accept all parts of me, the dark with the light. The yang masculine aspects of yoga – strong physical practice shift energy and strengthen the body and the yin – feminine aspects, meditation and pranayama (breath) bring connection to the present moment all three creating unity which is the meaning of the word Yoga. My passion now is to share the potential of Yoga with people like you! People craving a deeper connection to themselves, a pathway to their authentic expression, personal power and freedom. The human experience is a tricky thing to navigate, it’s not always sunshine and lollipops. Yoga offers a system to help guide us through. My aim is to translate this in a very down to earth way, teaching ways to embody the full human experience, the shadow self and the light within. Our true power and freedom lies in embracing our whole selves, our humanness. When we understand this we unlock the door to our greatness. Hi, I’m Kristy. My passion is natural health and wellbeing.

I began my journey at age 19 studying holistic massage and then homeopathy, learning that the mind, emotions and physical body are intrinsically linked. The physical body indicating when the emotional body is out of balance.

I have always been very active physically and then one day I tried yoga and discovered the magic it held. I started to feel the benefits off my mat in my everyday life and decided I wanted to share this magic with others. So, three years ago I completed my yoga teacher training, learning a safe sustainable form of yoga which is accessible to all bodies and ages.

Through the yogic practice of pranayama (breathing techniques), physical asana and mindfulness we can slow down, turn our gaze inward to connect with how we are feeling and in turn unlock what emotions are stored in our physical body.

I love the physical vinyasa flow, connecting movement with breath, finding strength and flow, lightness and adaptability.  Skills we can take off the mat and use in our everyday life.

I also have a strong love of Yin yoga. Life is so busy these days we all need time to stop, slow down and connect to how we are feeling. Yin yoga creates the space for our body to soften, to open, to surrender as we allow the letting go of what no longer serves us. This is the balance of life the yin and the yang.

Barbara has been practising yoga for almost 30 years and has found it to be a positive life changing journey.  Attending her first yoga class introduced Barbara to a lifelong passion and in 2013 Barbara made the decision to train as a yoga teacher (RYT-200) to take her passion to the next level.  Barbara completed training in restorative yoga and pre and post natal yoga prior to completing her next 300 hours yoga teacher training qualifying as RYT-500 in 2017.  Catering for all levels, Barbara teaches a variety of yoga classes ranging from beautifully nurturing restorative, yin, purna, meditation and hatha to the more challenging and dynamic vinyasa flow and detox.  Barbara ensures many different options are offered to assist students into asanas allowing them to gain confidence in their yoga practise and the opportunity to move into achievable challenges and peak poses whilst we open, lengthen and create space. An avid reader and researcher, Barbara loves sourcing new ideas to bring to the mat, whether they are physical, mental or yoga philosophy – no two classes are the same.  Yoga is a journey not a destination and Barbara is committed to providing interesting and well-sequenced yoga classes taught professionally, safely, thoughtfully and mindfully.

I obtained a certificate in personal training straight out of school, learning soon after it wasn’t what I had expected, I’ve been caught in the hospitality trap for a few years before I started taking reformer pilates classes personally to help with my dysfunctional body. Having not been able to do simple exercises at the gym, I found a new love for reformer pilates because I was able to exercise and feel the good hurt the next day not that bad. Excited to be able to take my base knowledge and learn new skills so I can help people achieve what they want from reformer pilates. I’m Just a rural girl who enjoys my down time spent getting lost in the forest, tanned at the beach and dirty on the farm.

Olivia Santo

Olivia is a Stott trained pilates instructor and Rainbow Kids Yoga teacher. Olivia has also been an early childhood teacher since 2010.

Olivia grew up locally, loves travelling, is passionate about holistic wellness and loves being in nature.

Olivia aims to create classes where clients feel empowered to move, gain body awareness and be challenged.

Shannon Thompson 

PILATES INSTRUCTOR

Shannon’s passion for Pilates began in her teenage tears where she used clinical Pilates to rehab her hockey injuries & improve her sporting performance. After experiencing the amazing results for herself, she was hooked! She completed her Physiotherapy Degree in Auckland & crossed the ditch to Melbourne, where she worked as a Musculoskeletal Physio & taught Mat Pilates, Clinical Pilates & HIIT personal training sessions.

Shannon then spent some time travelling overseas & returned to Melbourne to pursue her love & passion for all things Pilates – group reformer, private classes, mums & bubs & pre-natal classes. The travel bug struck again & off she went to Canada, where she discovered Buti Yoga – her new favourite way to exercise. She loved it so much that she became a qualified Buti Yoga Instructor (the first New Zealander!) & hopes that fellow Kiwis love it just as much as she does.

Shannon takes on a very holistic approach to Pilates & loves to motivate clients no matter their age, abilities or personal goals. She understands that everyone’s bodies work slightly differently & encourages people to explore their movement & just have fun with it. With her background in functional movement & injury prevention, Shannon also loves to encourage clients to apply the Principles of Pilates beyond the studio walls & into their daily life – whether it be at their work environment, hobbies, sports or other fitness activities. Mindful & efficient movement translates into more energy, less pain, improved strength/endurance, an elated mood & an increased sense of empowerment. To be able to do what we love more often and with greater ease makes people happier, healthier and spreads positive energy! Shannon’s classes are fun, dynamic, functional & educational to ensure you get the absolute most out of each workout!

Shannon is also a total foodie, a below average dancer & although she doesn’t have a musical bone in her body, loves to get amongst the live music scene! She loves outdoor adventures, the occasional Netflix marathon, & being ‘Auntie Shandogg’ to her 7 wonderful nieces & nephews.
